Bah! I could catch 15lb Walleye if I had the money and the sponsors to fish the Bay of Quinte.

And it's just about time for Babe Winkleman to get a haircut.

Hi

The heater's manual should tell you how big of an opening you need for ventilation. I know my little catalytic heater did. A tent should be pretty well ventilated on it's own though.

Great article, thanks.

I've only ever caught crappie by accident. I'd like to get out this spring and catch some on purpose.

I don't have a boat but I'm guessing the shorelines of the Ottawa River are all I need?

I'm planning on buying a baitcaster setup this year so I'll be trying lots of new stuff.

I want to try Texas and Carolina rigs.

I'd like to try Crappie fishing too.

This website sells just about everything you'll need to make all kinds of lures from go-getters to crankbaits and they're Canadian. They have lots of step-by-step instructions too.

I have never had them before but I was told sweet n sour pike balls are tasty...battered in a tempura batter. Cook till golden brown and then sautee in the sweet n sour sauce for 5 minutes. That sounds good. I made mini pike egg rolls during the holidays. They were very tasty as well. If you grind ...

Thanks a lot Jebby. That looks like a great combo. :D Two priorities for me are left-hand retrieve and 2-piece rod so I've been looking at three combos at Cabela's. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/readonly-item.jsp?id=117286&itemTemplate=wish-listdetails&cmCat=Readonly ht...

What are the pros and cons of magnetic vs. centrifugal cast control systems?

How about combination centrifugal and magnetic systems like Daiwa's Magforce Z?

Poor Man's Lobster

Here's my best fish of the winter, 7.5lb Pike, caught at Petrie Island, mid-February, not too far from O'Ziles. <a href="http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y236/ertw/Petrie%20Island%202007-02-17/IMGP1940.jpg" target="_blank"> <img src="http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y236/ert...

McQ's post here and Bobbers article last night in the Opinions thread do a pretty good job summing up how I feel about this whole thing. Even as a registered member of this forum, I still do a great deal of "lurking". Not because I'm trying to steal your fishing spot, sometimes I just don'...

Hi I'm in the same boat, looking for my first baitcaster. I've been doing quite a bit of research and have a pretty good idea of what I want but I'm having trouble finding a rod/reel combo that fits the bill. The problem is I want a left had reel and a 2-piece rod and that's not very popular in comb...

How about the Eagle Fishmark 320 Portable? It's more expensive than the Cuda but it seems to offer quite a bit more. Cabela has a portable kit which includes a rechargeable battery pack and a zippered carying case.

Thanks for the advice guys. I only wish I'd listened. We decide to try Christie Lake, south-west of Perth. We rented a pontoon boat from Christie Lake Cottages and Marina. The boat and the service was great but we didn't do very well with the fish or the weather. We caught a few small Pike and a ton...

Walleye and Boat Rentals Near Ottawa

Hi

I'm looking for Walleye lakes near Ottawa, say within 1.5 or 2 hours, where I could also rent a boat and motor package. Any ideas?

I don't know fishing around Ottawa very well and all I can find are Bass lakes.
