Nice job on the boat. When you say cover do you mean mooring cover? If so I can't really help I asked this myself a few weeks back. All I know is that spend the extra money and get a breathable cover. It will allow you to cover the boat and still have the inside dry out. Keeps the mold and smell out...

Wow - Thanks a lot JP.

I knew they were costly, considering what the boat is worth, I think I will continue to do it the manual way.

I have been in past and I would not say the perch are a good size.

I usually just use worms, or berkly gulp worms... when I get bored I sometimes work a jig or small spinner with a worm.

I do it for fun, not the feast.

Power Tilt/Trim

Anyone have any idea of the cost and options to add power tilt/trim for a smaller engine. I have a side console with 25hp Evinrude, but I would really like the power tilt/trim as I'm the only on the family strong enough to go back there an lift it up. And since the water levels get so low at the doc...

I suggest looking on to the new Smith VT-I. Made specifically for fisherman. I'm seriously considering a pair if I don't go the prescription route.

I was quoted almost 700$ for pair of Maui Jim's prescription. WOW!

Both are a great boat. Negotiate the best deal and take it.

Lund "appear" to have the most resale value as people treasure the Lund brand.

Wow, nice post MikeM

I did not know some of it. I do know that I always use midgrade fuel and at the end of the weekend the left over fills my car gas tank. So I adhere to some of your suggestions.

If you feel it need plugs, I say get it fired up first, burn off all the fogging spray, clean it up, change the plugs then fire it up with the new plugs.

Hi Pints I run a 2001 Merc 4St 40hp. My owner's manual clearly states do not use Ethanol. I have sent an email to Mercury Marine. Will post their reply - if I get one. Most manuals seem to say this. Even the service manuals. However I don't know where a guy finds fuel without Ethanol in it. Its reg...

Good reminder for everyone to ensure they have an inline fuel/water separator.

Not sure if thats the official name but I have one from my 6gallon can to the motor and I drain it at least 1 time each season.

Don't think I'm getting enough water to cause harm but better safe then sorry.

RoadRunner spinner jig heads with 2" twister tails and also going to try some 2" solid tube with the frilly tails. Hope to draw in some big crappie in a few weeks on this. http://www.blakemorelure.com/ Never tried a flash with my jigs on the ultra light for panfish. Going to see if it does...

I think we were all wondering the same thing Richard  My guess is they started the initial hole with the standard size auger, then added on the extension every time they hit the limit :!: Thats exactly correct. Drill to the max, then release the drill bit, then add the next section & drill...

Mooring Cover Info

Hey Guys,

Looking to see if anyone knows of anyone in the Kingston area that does custom mooring covers. I have a 14' Lowe that needs a water resistant cover as I want to leave the boat in the water this season.

Thanks,

I use the Minn-Kota drift sock. I think its fine, my choice at LeBarons was the minn kota or a drift control. I went with the minn-kota cause it was 5$ cheaper and came with a mesh bag to store it in. I feel that mine dry's fast enough. Unlike others here I just use it to slow my down so I can cover...
