WoW Steve. Looks like McGuinty's Finance is on the ball! Daner Although I'm in no way no fan of McGuinty I'm getting sick of this BS blaming McGuinty for this crap. The same thing happened to me years ago under Harris. This is a institutional problem that has been happening for many years. Although...

Provincial Sales Tax

I bought and registered my second hand boat in June 2008. This week I finally received a bill from the Ontario Government telling me I owed them 8% sales tax... :o

Better late than never I guess! :?

Sonar GPS Combo Recommendations

I'm looking at buying a combination Sonar/GPS. I was hoping to keep it under $700.

I'd be interested to hear what people recommend.

Taking a rookie out for Muskie

I remember when Weeder took me out to catch my first muskie. SO I was really excited at the prospect of intiating another fellow into the world of muskie fishing. Wnolan said he'd like to try muskie fishing sometime. Well sometime turned out to be this morning. It was -4 at the launch and the fog on...

Depending on the boat, you can launch at Shirley's Bay off Carling Avenue. Otherwise the Nepean Sailing Club has a great launch and it only costs $5.

Thanks oco, Iwas planning to go to Lac Mercier. There's a public launch in old Tremblant villge. I checked the local bylaws online, they said: BOAT LAUNCHING IN LAC MERCIER (fees and usage) Persons using the Lac Mercier boat launch ramp must have undertaken, by a company authorized by the Ville, the...

Trailering to Tremblant

Have any of you trailered your boat up to the Mont Tremblant area. I was considering this for an upcoming vacation. However, I've heard that some launches charge over $100 to launch and your required to pay someone to wash your boat and trailer before launching. Can anyone validate this? Are there a...

Kitchener Area

I'm heading down to Kitchener for the long weekend. Since my wife and daughter are planning to do girl stuff, I thought I'd bring the boat and go fishing. Checking the maps didn't show much in the way of lakes. I could go to one of the big lakes or I've also heard the Niagara River is good. Are ther...

Composite Props

I'm looking into a new prop and trying to decide between aluminum and composite. I've looked at Piranha Prop which has interchangable blades.

http://www.piranha.com/

The question is... What experience do you have with composite props? how's the performance / reliability?

Thanks

With all due respect to Jamsers, I think that advice can be a bit dangerous. You may have some grounds to argue, if ticketed, but you may lose in court. The best thing I can think of is to follow the regs for the more restrictive zone. ie. Wait for th the later zone to open and adhere to the lower l...

I've been reading this discussion with a great deal of interest. I think the topic gets off the rails when the issue of guides comes into it. The bottom line is that there can only be as many lines in the water as people with permits. If you ask the real question to the MNR officer you'll get a bett...

My grandfather used to say " there's the way the world should be and then there's the way the world is." There are people that go out of their way to pick up trash that they see. But there are a lot that don't. People should want to do this because it's the right thing to do. That's the wa...

All I can ay is that: There is the way the world should be and then there is the way the world is! Interestingly enough, none of these great ideas were suggested prior to having a contest with a prize for the winner. I'm very sure some people were motivated by the thought of cleaning up our environm...

About a year and a half ago at the Fish-Hawk Return to Pincrest event, I hooked something strange. You see we were fishing for walleye in a pretty hefty current. We were using jigs and minnows. We'd caught a few small ones as most of the Hawk Talkers had. When I felt a huge tug. I set the hook and t...
