Well here are the spoils of the trip, 400+ little bass and 2 PBs! This first one is 6.4lbs, they only thing I've ever fought like that was a salmon. As my first bass over 6lbs, I had no idea bass could get this strong. My 5.5' rod was completely overpowered, thank god for the 30lb power pro! What a ...

Big Bass 444, it's obvious why you fish alone 99% of the time. Dragging a bass like that on a stringer is disgraceful. I feel sick to my stomach. It's simple: 1) Stringers are for dinner, not catch and release. 2) Shoreline pics are for in season fish and dinner. If you you're not keeping the fish, ...

John: Thats a great link, but I wonder why they don't specify how much weight they had to use to make each line snap. Isn't that one of the most important things?

Hmm nothing over 2lbs, We'll I hope we luck out with at least a 4. There are also a ton of surrounding lakes that may not be fished. We will probably ventrue out from camp in search of some brookie streams or deep splake lakes. I'm hoping the usual crowd of casual fishermen haven't tapped thei...

I think this penalty should be the norm for anyone caught keeping OOS fish. I say a week in jail for every fish, up to 1 year. If you're stupid enough to ignore open seasons, and even more ingorant to actually keep these breeding fish, I beleive you deserve to see the backside of a set of iron bars....

Fly-In Bassing

I just booked a trip with a fly-in service called Stanton Air.

Has anyone here flown with them before? I'm looking for fishing experiences, ideal baits and any tips.

We're flying into Victoria Lake for 4 days, should be fun!

Georgian Bay - Opening Bass/Bowfin ?!?

Had a great opening day on GB on Saturday. Largemouth were hunkered in under docks in the hot sun, smallies were in rocky shallows feeding on craw and minnows. I took about 15 bass in the 4 hours I was out on Saturday, nothing big enough to warrant a picture. There was definately a strong showing fo...

maybe we should create a new section of the site for some of these debates...an area where discussions about conservation, handling of fish, OOS debates, etc can happen. It would be both an interesting read, and, hopefully, an area that posters REALIZE is for education. And instead of berating some...

Always good to stick to the recommended best practices of any manufacturer. Also it may void your warranty if they knew you did otherwise. I had a bad experience once at a marina north of Pointe Au Baril where i was camping. I usually bring along 3-4 batteries on these trips so I have lots of juice ...

I guess I'm one of those people but... I have a client who specializes in depp cycle forklift batteries. They custom build batteries and even wire their own chargers. They are partenered with Raymond, one of the most respected names in forklifts. Anyways, they suggest quite the opposite. And the cha...

I'm heading to Georgian for smallies. I found a new pattern last week while trolling for pike. I was using a silver and blue williams quicksilver and pike were slamming it, but so were the smallies! I upsized to avoid the smallies, but when bass opens, I'm gonna downsize my quicksilver and troll sho...

As an response to GB's post. I fly fish streams for brown trout. The rivers/streams I fish have 90% fly fishers. Among fly fishers there is an accepted rule. It's not enforced but everyone adheres to it. Here is it; When the water temp reaches 70F all fishing ceases. Everyone out of the water. Plai...
