I would not bring the machine if you are accessing from Point Anne. There is still some thin ice around (3" to 5") due to the flows. Best to go on foot. Try checking some reports on this forum, quintefishing.com. If you would rather try for some safe ice try Big Bay. You may have to access...

I picked up a Humminbird 757c Combo last year and LOVE IT! I have used Lowrance products for years but I found the Humminbird unit to be a great one! For the most part the features are identical. However, there are a few features on the humminbird I found useful (shaded depth being one of them). I h...

If they are telling you it is safe it should be safe. An outfitter giving false information like that could be in a heap of trouble if they were wrong. Where is the outfitter located on the Bay? How much ice is there (inches)? Of course, always err on the side of caution when it comes to things like...

Some people may not know what a 'wading belt' is... Absolutely. BB gave a good description. Essentially a wading belt can be anything tied around waders to mitigate water flowing into them, after you are submerged. However, in the case of ice...best to not test ideas. Better to stay dry and wait un...

the waders would fill with water and you would sink to the bottom quicker Hmmm, although waders would not help you if you fell through the ice. The thought that you sink with waders full of water is a bit of an old wives tale, somewhat. I have taken several water safety courses over the years and i...

Most lakes have some ice coverage along Highway 35 between Lindsay and Dorset. Not sure of any safe ice. Soon, very soon. It is only a matter of time if the weather patterns remain the same. Most temps for the next week or so are below 0.

Anyone out there ever wet a line, or caught fish, in Grundy Lake PP??

I have never been to this park and I am heading up there this weekend.

If you have a boat there are plenty of areas on the Ottawa River between Chalk River and the hydro dam for some great fishing.

Just go explore some of the back bays, point bars, etc. Find some weeds and chuck rock and you should have some fun.

Fishing Opportunities in the Lindsay area

Hey fish_man_dude, there are many guys from the college that are avid fishermen. Unfortunately there has been very little interest in recent years in organizing them. I graduated from there 10 years ago and we had a 'relatively' active club that targeted all fish species, including steelhead and sal...

Some tips for Six Mile Lake

Six Mile is a great fishery of mostly smallmouth and largemouth bass. The drop offs can hold smallies but not all the time. For more consistent action look for weedlines breaking into deeper water. Also, rock/weed mix points will hold fish as well. In these areas you can usually find a mix of both s...
