Re: Fish-Hawk Get-Together Mid November 2014

I'd love to come out also!! Pick a night when I'm not coaching hockey and count me in....... oh wait, I coach every night. Either way I'm sure you'll still be lingering by 9pm which means I will join you after a sufficient amount of lubrication will have been consumed. I better bring my waders!!

Re: Suggest a bass setup for trolling behind a canoe

I try and keep my color selection really simple for just about every bait. This eliminates the uncertainty of the "right" color which of course negatively impacts confidence. Any 3 colors which falls into the categories of light, dark and natural will always work irrespective of the lure a...

Re: Suggest a bass setup for trolling behind a canoe

I would definitely try a texas rigged swimbait. The knob tail will create the vibration required for fish to "find" the bait in the noise of the current. Furthermore the swimbaits will "keel" and resist rolling which will certainly reduce line twist which you are probably experie...

Re: No more lifetime warranty on new Shimano rods

thanks for that interesting perspective. Sounds like you were a decision maker on this with Shimano? I don't know if I'm simplistic or not, but I'm outright saying this new policy will have me looking differently at the over 200 dollar drop shot rod and over 200 dollar frog rod I was looking at puc...

Re: Fish-Hawk member rigs

I helped Princecraft design the Pro198 about 12 years ago. This one, my 5th, has about 200 man-hours of extra rigging and customization to make her mine. She is also the last one made, I sure am gonna miss her!!! Back to the drawing board for next year. http://i93.photobucket.com/albums/l62/fishsbc...

Re: No more lifetime warranty on new Shimano rods

Not to alienate any of the simplistic "back to the roots" anglers within the Fish-Hawk community, the rest of us are all voracious consumers, probably in more than one facet of our lives. Tackle aside, some of us may be equally passionate about photography, skiing, cars, camping, electroni...

Paul: I personally feel you are a great ambasador to the renegades series and fishing in general and respect your htoughts as well so I want to know if you took this post as a personall insult to you and the series. If so then maybe my views on life are a little bit more relaxed than most. I also f...

Wowzers. Despite the humour (good or bad) by the Dufours they've never sunk to this level. This may be the worst post I've ever seen on here, talk about jamming it down someones throat... But TEAM 28 is now on ignore so all is ok.. The way I see it they caught one fish for 4.99. Hell th...

Re: Detailed paper topo maps

If you are from Ottawa or visit frequently enough, The World of Maps on Richmond at the corner of Holland sells almost any available hydrographic chart. For the navigable waterways, (anything with green and red channel markers) the "Government" maps created by the Canadian Hydrographic Ser...

Re: Silicone....

The gold standard in the marine industry seems to suggest the following 3M 5200 is a true permanent non hardening polyurethane sealant that is available in a "fast cure". It is recommended for use "below the waterline". The only shortcomings would be it is unavailable in clear, s...

Re: Custom Boat Covers

I have had at least a dozen custom covers created by Denis Gauthier at Multi-Toiles DG. He's a true craftsman and is extremely reasonable. He is also the exclusive cover maker for Orleans Boat World. He often works remotely from their location in Orleans. I can't say enough good things about his wor...

Re: Respooling----Every Year???

WOW how much time do you waist to re-tie watch an FLW show and count who many times they re tie or even check there line? Hey Chris, You're a great angler (coming from your netman Big "O" and my observations over the years) so I say this with the utmost respect. Not retying on a regular b...
