If you won't drink the water, would you eat the fish? Some people do eat the fish from Dow's Lake.BackwoodsFishing wrote:Does anyone eat anything from there just out of curiosity?

Dow's Lake
Dow's lake is now filled. The pannies will be hungry. Great time to get your young ones out for a spring fishing trip. Any small hook with a honey worm, or small crappie jigs should work well. A slip bobber helps, or just any old plain bobber.

Dow's Lake
NCC was taking the last of the shacks off today. They should be filling the lake this week. Pannies will be hungry. Great time to get the kids out. Small ice fishing jig and a honey worm, small bobber. Huge fun.

Re: Looking for a nice pan fish spot for my son's first time
Once the water is back in Dow's Lake, take the kids around the pavilion. The boat docks may be in place, if not, go around to the west side of the building. There is a cement dock, just go past the fuel pump and you will be all set. You are off the bike path and the panfish are starving if you head ...

Small (1/2" to 1 inch max) lures for grayling. Half-wave and red and whites were my favourites when I lived there in the early 60's. Any fly that resembles the local bugs will work. Black ant and mosquito patterns were favourites. Same colours just bigger sizes for lakers and pike, size to be d...

Re: WARNING: Fishing on NCC Property
Would be nice to get all the facts on the case. Having said that, the area near the bowling club, if that is where it happened, appears to me, not to be NCC property. Also, the service desk did not contradict the LAW. The service desk said correctly, you can fish "from" NCC property. The l...

Re: Wormy Catfish?
Don't forget, on the Ontario side of the Ottawa River there is a limit of 12 with a Sportfishing license, and 6 with a Conservation license for Channel Cats.Daner wrote:Yum!
Good response and thank you, cause now we can hit the Ottawa hard and clean the over load

Re: Ottawa River Catfish with Kids
The Deschene Rapids park along the Ottawa River Parkway, sorry, the Sir John A. Parkway. is not a bad spot to try. Worms work well there (lots of ducks to amuse the kids as well).
