This lake isn't very deep, only about 18ft max depth. These ones were in about 8ft, but were closer to the surface, they seemed to be relating to a clump of cabbage. I could not find them during the day though, they only came out to bite around sunset.
Good luck!

Spring Panfish
I couldn't pass up the beautiful weather this past Thursday, so I took the day off work to get out fishing. First time on the water for me since ice out! https://i.imgur.com/74JRBgX.jpg My goal was to catch a few crappie, but for most of the day all I found were a few perch and a number of bluegills...

Re: Shirleys Bay reports
We got our hut set up on the weekend. The three of us fished for 6 hours, 6 rods - Not 1 bite lol. Not a nibble.... We are set up north east of the launch in about 12 feet or so. We will give it another go in that spot and post the results... CCLad. I was also there on the weekend and the fish were...

Re: Shirleys Bay reports
Got on a decent bite yesterday late afternoon/evening. Was fishing in 10-11 ft, just a bit further out than most of the popups were (about 7 inches of good ice). Caught 3 sauger and 4 walleye. 1 eater (14.75"), the rest were all in to 10-12" range. Had the walleye for breakfast this mornin...

Ontario Baitfish Management Strategy
Haven't seen this posted here yet. The Ontario goverment has finalized their new baitfish management strategy that will restrict the use of baitfish to the baitfish management zone where they were caught (there will be 4 management zones). I haven't seen when the new restrictions will be taking effe...

Re: Clyde River
I can't speak to success on the Clyde since I haven't fished it myself (yet), but I often see a car or two parked here along Wolf Grove Rd , when I'm heading to/from one of my fishing spots. They likely launch canoe or kayaks from there, not sure if they fish upstream or down. Note: on Google street...

Re: Mississippi Walleye
My only suggestion to those that are struggling is to stop trolling. Pick up a hair jig and start ripping the weeds with it. The walleye are scarce in those basin areas as the water has cleared over the years due to zebra mussels, they now live in the weeds. Thanks for the tip RJ. I'll be going for...

Re: Mississippi Walleye
For those that fish the Miss regularly, how has the slot impacted the walleye fishing? I used to fish it for walleye pretty regularly and did OK. Haven't fished for walleye at all though in the past 3 or 4 years I've only been fishing it the past few years since I moved to the area. Fish it about 1...

Along with one huge sunfish. https://i.imgur.com/vNihTWoh.jpg Had s...

Re: Fishing the Mississpi River and Lake area with kids
Sorry I can't help too much with shore fishing spots on Mississippi Lake/River, but I do alright on the southern portion of the lake fishing from a canoe. I believe shore fishing spots are pretty limited since most of the surrounding land is private. I'm sure I've seen people fish the river from sho...

Fisn'n Canada also posted an article on this subject: https://fishncanada.com/news/is-fishing-okay-during-the-pandemic/ Some good discussion in the comments as well. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion on the matter. For myself, I don't see going fishing to be any different from going for a wa...

Re: Mississippi, anybody out yet
Had some luck the past two weekends along Craig shore (accessed at the Loon Ln boat launch). One small walleye under the slot, one pike (21"), and around two dozen perch (mostly dinks, but a few keepers around 8").
Hoping to find where the crappie have been hiding on Miss this coming week.

Re: ottawa walleye/crappie
Not sure about Quebec, but walleye season closes after March 1st on the Ontario side (Zone 18), but you can still fish for them on the Ottawa River (Zone 12) until March 31st. For walleye a tip-up with a minnow works well, as does a jigging spoon (Acme Kastmaster and Northland Macho Minnow work well...

Re: Mississippi, anybody out yet
Was out there last weekend and yesterday as well. Accessed the lake near Grasshopper Point. Lots of ice in the south end of the lake 12-14 inches. About a dozen huts out there and people have been driving quads and snowmobiles out there. Less ice if you're fishing close to where the river flows in a...
